Am I a candidate for treatment with Focused Ultrasound?
The main premises to obtain this treatment is that tremor should be refractory to farmaceutical treatment. You should have been previously treated with drugs that no longer do any action. The tremor should be chronic and should limit the activities of your daily life such as eating, drinking, relating to other people and working.
This treatment is performed within an MRI, that is why is important that the patient could enter into it. Direct contraindications are the presence of non-MR and metal compatible pacemakers (prostheses may enter).
It is a direct contraindication if you have undergone a previous open skull operation such as Deep Brain Stimulation.
